North Korea Thinks U.S. is a Boiled Pumpkin?

North Korea hurls insults at the U.S. including this rather colorful one:

“It compared the U.S. mainland with a “boiled pumpkin,” unable to endure an attack from a foreign foe, the state-run Korean Central News Agency reported.”  —

Also included in the report is North Korea’s claim to be ready for any and all attacks because it has built bunkers just for such purposes.  They have claimed that they will survive any such attacks.

Considering that about half the households in the United States maintain firearms, North Korea is not going to be attacking us on our shore.  Those who have guns will immediately share them with those who don’t have them.  North Koreans won’t stand a chance.  Americans are prepared for anything.  North Korean soldiers caught and thrown in prison for attacking our country will be better off than those left at home, if there is a home to go to.  At least in the U. S. those same invading North Korean soldiers will have food, clothing, shelter, medical care and freedom to choose their religion.  That is much better than what North Korean citizens are currently allowed.

The people of North Korea live in abject poverty, face starvation, and suffer hideous maltreatment.   The fact that people are trying to leave North Korea at great risk is no small surprise.  The risk of getting caught is just as bad as living in North Korea, but they are willing to risk even death to escape.  It is said that Kim Il Sung once said there will not be another generation of Christians born in North Korea as he sent soldiers to kill babies of Christian mothers or give the mother’s a chance to kill them humanly.   One fact is certain, Kim Il Sung did unspeakable things to persons who would not swear to his new religion, “Juche” also called “Kimilsungism” in which he is the only god.

Is it any wonder the people of South Korea wish delay reuniting with North Korea until a more reasonable agreement can be made?  Who would want to Kim Jong Un builds war bunkers.give up their freedoms and rights so they may be forced to worship a self-made god and then his son?  South Korean’s want to keep what they have worked hard to build.  The United States respects South Korea for its accomplishments and won’t allow anyone to destroy it.

The whole world is watching to see what you will do, Kim Jong Un.  The world is watching you fall into your father’s footsteps.  We are watching you spiral down the same disastrous path as he.  We aren’t the boiled pumpkins.  You are.  We have been prepared since 1776.  You have a choice.  Make it a reasonable one.

North Korea Turns Up the Volume Towards South Korea, U.N. Security Council and United States

North Korea Kim Jong UnConsidering the sound of North Korean rhetoric and threats, the South Korean military is  practicing drills in case they should have to engage in gorilla warfare.  Part of those drills include the flying of B-52 bombers over the peninsula.   One would think the drills are in direct response to recent activity.  They are not, not really.  These exercises are held every year in the spring.  Every year.  They are not new.  They are performed by every military in various locations through out the world on their own schedule.  Yet North Korea acts as if it is a threat to North Korea.  Kim Jong Un is his country’s own worst enemy.

Each day the North Korean government seems to ramp up their propaganda machine and are attempting to spark fear in the South Koreans, other Asian countries and in the countries of the world that support South Korea.  Having tested a nuclear bomb last month, near the time they released an edited video of attacks on the U. S. were published on YouTube, they might be getting too big for their britches.

Some how this all seems like a spoiled sociopath child throwing a temper tantrum.  Their leader, Kim Jong Un, must be unhappy about the condition of his country’s economy, social condition, and international relationships.  He is so unhappy that he, like his father, has singled out two countries  of the world full of countries to demonize.  Even their “friend” China has told them they are going too far.

Kim Jong Un forgets that as he is preparing to go to war, the rest of the world is preparing as well.  Not only are they preparing, they have been preparing for decades.  Why?  Being prepared is a strong deterrence to war.  If Kim Jong Un were wise he would know that he can’t possibly win a war between the countries of the U.N.

Even if by some chance North Korean does manage to attack a major U. S. city, we will rise from the ashes and be stronger than before.  We always do.  That is because as a nation full of citizen warriors, we are prepared.  We are strong.  We don’t give up and we don’t give in.  We won’t be intimidated.  We get on with things.  That is the prepper attitude.  We will continue to prepare as citizens and as a government.

Are South Koreans Preppers?

Jagalchi Market, Busan, South KoreaConsidering the turn of events between the world and North Korea, you have to wonder, are South Koreans what we would consider preppers?  Think about it.  Probably they are.  They have lived with the saber rattling of North Korea ever since the truce was announced.

Every so often the North Koreans lob some kind of explosive at South Korea.  They make no excuses.

Many of my friends have served in the military and were stationed in South Korea.  U. S.  Military personnel all had them issued as part of their standard gear.  There was the constant threat, even under the truce, that North Korea would lob some sort of biological or chemical weapon over the border.

Part of the South Korean preparations for war is continuing to welcome the United States military presence.  Not only does our military provide protection from would be invaders, but the economic benefits to South Korea have proven to be useful.  South Korea businesses flourished during the past decades.  By contrast, North Korea didn’t want any part of free enterprise and has been among the most poverty stricken countries in the world.

If anyone has a reason to prepare, certainly South Korean citizens should be considering how real the words from North Korea might be.  While the thoughts of what could happen next are frightening, South Koreans will not be acting out of fear emotions but out of deliberate long term planning.  Could they may be the ultimate preppers?
